The third annual, 2015 Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo has drawn to a close, but a fabulous time was had by all! The highly anticipated annual race took place on September 12th, and this year included a, “Kids Fondo” which took place the following day. The St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino was the start and finish line for all riders of the Piccolo (58 km) , Medio (102 km) and Gran Fondo (152 km). A reception was also held for all participants and volunteers inside the St. Eugene Pavilion after the race, where cyclists were able to enjoy a bounty of seasonal offerings prepared by our Resort Chefs.
This event, presented by Taylor Adams Chartered Accountants has been organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club, with the vision to serve as an opportunity for cyclists to participate in a world class Fondo, bring tourists to our region, and raise funds for local charitable endeavours. The intention is to have the North Star Cranbrook – Kimberley Rails to Trails Society receive a portion of the event proceeds. Other funds raised through the event will be used to support community projects in our area.
