Visiting any casino for the first time can be quite daunting. Casinos tend to be large, open spaces teeming with visitors who seem to know exactly what they’re doing, and you may find yourself wandering around lost and overwhelmed. Dozens of cameras hang from the ceiling, watching your movements, and the myriad of security guards, pit bosses, and dealers seem to be doing the same. Worst of all, there are no signs, announcements, or guide books to inform newcomers of the rules of behaviour. To help navigate you through your first visit, the Casino of the Rockies team at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino have compiled a list of ‘Proper Casino Etiquette’ to ensure that you are comfortable knowing beforehand, the rules that govern our Casino.
Firstly, all players must be at least 19+ years of age, with no exceptions. Please “pardon the compliment” if you are approached by a security guard asking to see your identification. If you look 25 years of age or younger, you will most likely be asked to produce two forms of identification. Acceptable identification is Government issued picture identification (Driver’s license, passport, BC ID etc.). The new, enhanced First Nation status cards may be used as primary identification, but the older status cards may only be used in conjunction with other forms of recognized identification.
Outside food or beverages are not permitted in the casino, nor are weapons of any sort including pocket knives. If you wear your knife into the casino, please leave it with Security who will secure it until your departure. Large bags, laptop cases and backpacks will also need to be left with Security.
Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase from Kiʔsuʔk k̓ikiⱡ located inside the Casino, and are permitted on the gaming floor, but must be consumed inside the casino and are not be taken past the doors to the hotel lobby. Serving It Right guidelines (BC’s responsible beverage service program) are strictly adhered to.
Proper attire, including shirts and shoes, are required. Formal wear is not necessary. Masks are never permitted, even surrounding events such as Halloween. We do however, allow our guests to dress up in costume for special events such as a bachelor party or staff retirement party. Please keep in mind that your face must be clearly visible at all times.
‘Encore Rewards’ is the Provincial wide player rewards card that many patrons choose to sign up for, as the member benefits are quite worthwhile. Membership is free; however application forms must be accompanied by acceptable photo identification. If you leave your Encore card in a slot machine or misplace it, simply visit Casino Guest Services for a replacement card. Please note that lost Encore Reward cards will only be returned or reprinted with accompanying acceptable photo identification.
Table games and tables may have varying limits, which are clearly posted at each table. In the event of disputes, the supervisor’s decision is final. Chips may be purchased at the tables and at the cashier. They must be redeemed at the cashier and are only used for the table games.
