Kindness in the Kootenays
At St. Eugene, we believe in community and in being good neighbours and part of that is keeping up on the activities of our neighbours. We were very excited when we saw an innovative idea for a contest on the Canadian Rockies International Airport’s Facebook page: everyone is invited to post their stories (including photos and videos) of performing, receiving, or witnessing Random Acts of Kindness. Every week, the submission that receives the most “likes” will receive a return ticket to Edmonton from Cranbrook with Integra Air.
The Random Acts of Kindness movement started in the 1980’s and has been gathering steam since, flourishing now on the internet. The movement focuses on the spirit of hope and goodness and is based on the idea that we are all interconnected. If we all do one unexpected kind thing for someone every day, no matter how small a gesture, we can all make the world a better place. When you smile at a stranger, or open the door for them, you are performing a Random Act of Kindness.
At St. Eugene, we will be watching and “liking” the submissions on Facebook, so let’s show just how kind we can be in the Kootenays!
